The Bomb Jump is the act of using a bomb or similar explosive to reach greater heights in a fast way. Because of the nature of explosives, it can be a dangerous and hard task to do. Since only Knights can use bombs, and can land in a safer way by using their parachute, it is more common to see Bomb Jumps executed with them, but one could execute it with another player.

Dangers

The nature of explosives makes the Bomb Jump a difficult task, which requires skill. If not executed in a correct manner, it can damage nearby entities, including structures, allies and enemies. The launch executed by the Bomb Jump is also dangerous itself, depending on how the player will land. Landing in a harsh way will, of course, do damage and possibly kill.

A guide on bombjump method

How-to

There are 3 distinct techniques for bomb jumping.

Shield-Glide

The shield glide technique is generally the most common form of bomb jumping.

  • When holding a bomb, stand close to a drop of at least 3 blocks.
  • When the bombs timer reaches ~20, jump off the drop while holding your shield upright, performing a shield-glide.
  • The bomb will explode, launching the knight across the map in the direction he/she jumped.

Shield glide bomb jumps are useful for traveling large distances, though they can incur stun and even damage.

Side Bomb Jump

To execute a side bomb jump you must:

  • Light a bomb (a drop is not needed for this technique).
  • Wait till the timer reaches ~10, and jump in the air, facing the direction opposite to where you want to go.
  • Press C to throw the bomb just as it reaches ~5 while shielding it.
  • The bomb will explode, launching the player in the opposite direction to which he threw the bomb.

Side Bomb Jumps are often used to get over large spike pits/valleys, but are not helpful for going over towers.

Ground Bomb Jump

Ground bomb jumps are used to get high of the ground, but not receive the stun/loss of health of a Shield-glide bomb jump.

  • Throw a lit bomb on the ground in front of you.
  • As the timer reaches ~15, jump in the air and shield to the ground.
  • The bombs explosion will launch the player high into the air.

This technique allows players to jump onto/inside enemy structures.

Keg Jump

A variation of the Side or Ground bomb jump, that follows the same principles, except using a keg. As kegs are only available on Gold servers, the amount of people that have performed it is lessened. However, it can provide much further distance, and allows the player to, after Keg jumping, have three bombs in his/her inventory, letting them do more damage to the enemy.

Other Techniques
