Dirt is one of the natural block types of the game. It has low durability, breaking after four hits, and drops no resources when mined. It is the only natural block that can be mined by any of the three classes and as such one of the few block types that can be destroyed by an archer.
Bombs will only do minor damage to a dirt block (about 1 "hit").
Destroying dirt leaves behind an indestructible dirt wall similar to the castle back wall. Both dirt and dirt walls add stability and support to fortifications.
Bugs
If a trap bridge is placed over a castle back wall, it will leave behind a dirt back wall when destroyed. This can be exploited to allow for structures that will not collapse, since a dirt wall will hold any structure up.
